Athletic Trainer - Weymouth High School
The Athletic Trainer is directly responsible to the Athletic Director.
This position is a Non-Union, benefit eligible position
General Duties:
To provide care and prevention of athletic injuries including therapeutic rehabilitation to allow for the least loss of competitive time, while keeping the mental and physical welfare of the athlete as the top priority.
Job Description:
* Responsible for referring athletic injuries to physicians for diagnosis and/or treatment.
* Carries out appropriate instructions and treatment as directed by the (athlete's) physician.
* Develops and supervises appropriate rehabilitation programs for athletes under the direction of the physician.
* Assists and advises the coaching staff regarding injury prevention, conditioning programs and the selection, care and fitting of protective equipment
* Determines if a player is capable of continued participation in a game and/or practice, if the player is injured.
* Responsible for the organization, inventory and requisition of all training room supplies. Requisitions must be submitted to, and approved by, the Athletic Director.
* Responsible for the car and cleanliness of the training room
* Responsible for reporting all injuries to the athletic office on the proper forms and keeping an annual record of all athletic injuries. In addition, will assist in completion and filing of athletic injury insurance forms.
* Responsible for giving basic information to athletic staff in the care and prevention of injuries.
* Responsible for establishing a training room schedule to meet the needs of athletes involved in away contests, home contests and practices
* Shall assist in making proper arrangements for scheduling athletic physicals for athletic teams with the team physician
* Must be present at all varsity football games (home and away) varsity football practices, and all home sub-varsity football games. When conflicts arise, the trainer is responsible for providing qualified coverage, with approval by the Athletic Director.
* Will coordinate with the Athletic Director for coverage of home athletic events including tournaments, and weekend and holiday games/practices.
Qualifications:
- Certified - Commonwealth of Massachusetts Allied Health Professions/Licensed Athletic Trainer
- Certified - NATA BOC
- Athletic Trainer experience preferred
